Apurva Mathur is the HR manager at the GMKS Foundation.
Apurva was born in Jaipur. She did her schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya. Thereafter, she completed her BA with her majors being Psychology, English Literature, and Political Science from B.N. College, Udaipur.
Recalling her childhood, Apurva says that her father worked at Hindustan Zinc in Dariba. So she spent her childhood there and stayed there until she completed her schooling. She remembers that she was so notorious that her mother tied her up with the guava tree. She moved to Udaipur, where she did her graduation. She further pursued her MBA at the Pioneer Institute of Management.
Apurva shares that after finishing her studies, she worked at a couple of companies as a center head. She met her husband, Vaibhav Vyas, while she was working for a company. She gained good working experience and then joined the NGO Gandhi Manav Kalyan Society, where she currently works. She learned to utilize her education during her fieldwork. Her NGO works for women's empowerment schemes and child development schemes and also raises funds for the needy through government-aided programmes. They teach women how to earn and save money and how to become independent in order to secure their future. She says the way she can bring a smile to someone’s face is priceless for her.
Sharing about her challenges, Apurva says that she had faced many challenges in her professional life because everything was new for her. She overcame every challenge that came into her life with the support of her family and her husband.
When asked about her role models, Apurva says that she has learned some of the most valuable lessons from her father that she still applies in her life. She feels blessed to have such a supportive husband, from whom she learned to be calm in every situation.
To all those who want to pursue this field, Apurva advises that one should have excellent communication skills, be empathetic towards people's feelings, and know how to interact with people.
Comparing the two, Apurva believes that education is extremely important because it determines our future career path, but once we start working, our experience starts gaining more importance.
When free, Apurva likes to spend time with her family and friends.
