Anushree Lunawat is the Director of Finance at Aravali Minerals & Chemicals Industries Pvt. Ltd. in Udaipur.
Born in Udaipur, Anushree has a B.A. in Political Science. The Aravali Minerals and Chemicals Industries was established by her father-in-law. Now the company is a pioneer in many aspects, as they own the deepest underground soapstone mine in the world. They are forerunners in the production and export of marble, soapstone, dolomite, and their new addition, quartz. She says that as the demand for marble was mitigating, they diversified their business with a new mineral, quartz.
Anushree started working with this company two years ago. She looks after the purchase and sale of goods and online transactions for the company.
Cherishing her childhood memories, Anushree says that she shares a strong bond with her parents, siblings, and friends. Later, when Anushree got married at a young age, she was a homemaker who took over many family responsibilities in a joint family.
According to Anushree, the concept of success is very subjective. Her success mantra is doing the work with dedication, compassion, and always being diligent.
When it comes to role models, Anushree looks up to her father-in-law, who encouraged her to join the family business rather than stay at home. Anushree is able to handle her work successfully and has assumed charge of the company's finances despite coming from a different educational background.
Talking about mistakes, Anushree feels she underestimated herself by believing she was incapable of doing much. She feels that she made another mistake by starting her professional career very late.
Discussing her struggles, Anushree says that initially it was tough for her to maintain her personal and professional lives simultaneously. She had full responsibility for her kids and the family, but with time, she was able to manage everything. Anushree also discusses how, as a student of political science, it was tough for her to manage the finances of her business, but with determination, she was able to ace that too.
When asked about her achievements, Anushree says that joining her family business is her biggest achievement. She believes she is developing her own identity and is doing well at work. She is happy that everyone appreciates her since she is trying her best and living a balanced life.
In her thoughts on leadership, Anushree feels that she is a leader by work and not by birth. She believes that she developed leadership qualities through experience and work. Her leadership journey started at school and continued in her office. She is very polite and benevolent towards the staff and employees, and they feel happy to work with her.
Advising the newcomers, Anushree says that one must always be passionate, compassionate, and multitask in their work.
Anushree opines that education and experience are both important because education is the base from which you can begin your career, whereas you cannot sustain yourself without experience. Hence, she believes that both are equally important.
Being an early riser, Anushree practices yoga and meditation and visits the temple on a regular basis.
If given a time machine, Anushree would like to go back in time and complete her post-graduation. She could not complete it earlier as she got married at an early age after completing her graduation.
When asked about her pandemic experience, Anushree says that, on a personal front, COVID gave her the opportunity to spend quality time with her family and kids. From a professional standpoint, they faced challenging times due to a shortage of staff and the complete halt of marble exports. However, the soapstone and dolomite demands saved their business, and they somehow managed to cope with the harsh pandemic situation.
Anushree believes that a woman’s life is very challenging as they have to look after their home, children, and jobs too. She gives the message that no matter how difficult it is, they should always face it with grit and determination and do something with their lives.
Anushree is also a social worker and a member of various organizations like JITO (Jain International Trade Organization), Entrepreneurs Organization, Jaipur, and Round Table. She says she has helped many orphans by giving them funds for their education and has also given donations to temples.
