Anuradha Thakur, a painting artist from Ahmednagar, began her journey with a passion for art nurtured since childhood. After a long hiatus to work for social welfare, she returned to painting, focusing on depicting tribal life and culture. Her dedication earned her recognition, including the 100 Women Achievers Award.

Anuradha Thakur is a talented Painting Artist from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

Reminiscing about her early years, Thakur recalls how her drawing teacher always praised her for her artistic abilities. Encouraged by her supportive father and family, she pursued her passion and earned admission to a fine arts college.

After completing her Fine Arts degree, Thakur initially set aside her painting ambitions to focus on social welfare. She dedicated her time to empowering housewives and teaching art to slum children using unconventional materials like mud and gum from the babool tree.  Her efforts not only boosted the confidence of these children but also won her a state award for her contributions.

Anuradha Thakur also worked with adolescent girls in tribal areas, helping them gain the confidence to create their own artistic works. She even conducted an art workshop at Search for Health under Dr. Abhay Bang.

After 22 years of social work, Anuradha Thakur returned to her artistic roots, this time with a mission to capture the lives and cultures of tribal people on canvas. She travelled to various tribal regions, translating her experiences into a powerful art series that gained widespread recognition, including the prestigious 100 Women Achievers Award from the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Anuradha believes that creating art is a meditative process that fosters mental peace. She advises aspiring artists to explore various mediums, experiment with different techniques, and study both natural and man-made objects to develop their unique style.

Her life mantra is to continuously explore art, as it sharpens the mind, enhances focus, and harmonises the rhythms of nature with the artist's own experiences.
