Annie has 36 years of experience working for the Airports Authority of India. She has come a long way in her professional journey with her patience, dedication, and hard work.

Annie Raju joined the Airports Authority of India in 1985 as a Clerical Assistant and climbed up the ladder to become a Deputy Manager (Human Resources). Annie says she had to pass several inter-departmental exams to reach this position. She is happily retired today and often reflects back on her journey and how far she could make it in life.

Annie was born in 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She did her schooling at a school called Our Lady of Health . Thereafter, she completed her B.Com at Chennai College of Commerce, coupled with Diplomas in Business Management and Personnel Management.

Annie started working at the age of nineteen and had experience of four years working with private organizations. She began her journey with the Airports Authority of India at the age of 24, and retired after serving there for 36 years. Annie has worked in the Engineering, Terminal, Commercial, HRM, and Finance departments of the organization.

Annie had a difficult childhood since her family’s financial condition was not quite good. She also lost her father early, resulting in more responsibilities on her shoulders. Thereafter, she had to take care of her siblings and mother, who suffered from chronic bronchitis. However, Annie surpassed all those obstacles and emerged victorious by securing a respectable job.

Annie draws inspiration from her mother, who went through a trying phase keeping herself calm and composed. Annie learnt from her how to face challenges in life head on. In her career life, her husband has been her constant support who motivated her to take up promotions.

Talking about her struggles, Annie shares that she faced a bit of politics and corruption when she was appointed on a temporary basis. However, later on, she fought for her rights and was appointed permanently by the Authority. Annie got married at the age of 27, but couldn’t conceive for a decade, which was a painful experience for her. However, after a long period of waiting, she was blessed with twins who are now grown up and doing well in life.

Annie says that we all should respect everyone and their profession. She advises all HRM professionals to be compassionate and understand people's problems and try to solve them. Annie also suggests they appreciate people who work hard and set an example for other employees to learn from.

Annie advises everyone to stay humble and not let success go to their heads. She advises the young to look out for practical training at their jobs rather than just considering the high package.
