From the beginning itself, Ankur had always dreamed of doing something of his own. After completing his MBA, he worked at his uncle’s business in Africa to learn the nuances of running a business. Then he moved back to India to embark on his entrepreneurial journey.

Ankur Mehta is the director of Vaibhav College of Designing in Udaipur. For the past eighteen years, he has been working in the field of interior design.

Ankur was born into a middle-class family in Agra. His father was in a transferable banking job and he completed his schooling from Ajmer as his father was posted there. He received his college education at Jodhpur University. He did an MBA from IGNOU.

Talking about his professional journey, Ankur says that after completing his MBA, he worked in Africa for about three years in his uncle’s business. He says working in Africa taught him a lot about running a business. Then he moved back to India and started his own CAD training institute in Udaipur along with his wife.

Ankur shares that from 2008 for the next eight years, he ran his CAD training institute in Udaipur. Thereafter, he made efforts to open a government-registered college of interior design in Udaipur when he learned that students in the city were being charged unreasonably high fees by other private institutions for courses on interior design.

Ankur thinks that he is a born leader as, from a young age, he started displaying leadership qualities. He would always lead his fellow students at school. Besides, he was the finance secretary in his college student union.

Ankur shares that his father always wanted him to do a job. However, from the beginning itself, he had always dreamt of doing something of his own. He acknowledges that it was his uncle who taught him the nuances of running a business.

Ankur advises people never to run away from tough times in life. He says tough times in life teach you things that moments of ease can never teach.

When asked about his role models, Ankur says that he considers his father, uncle, and wife as his role models.

Ankur is of the opinion that irrespective of what people say, you can learn a lot from the internet and social media, provided you use them wisely.

If he could go back in time via a Time Machine, Ankur would want to live his school and college days once again and enjoy them to the fullest.

Ankur thinks that everyone is knowledgeable in their field of interest and therefore, he advises people never to judge anyone on the basis of their field of work or profession.

To youngsters, Ankur advises them to respect their parents and take care of them in their old age as it will be the best way to repay their parents for their efforts in raising them.

In his spare time, Ankur likes to travel to rejuvenate and replenish. Besides, he likes to drive and cook in his free time to relieve his stress.
