Ankita Roy, a talented Actor, Psychologist, and Hypnotherapist based in Kolkata, began her professional acting career in 2017, though her passion for the craft dates back to her childhood.
Raised in a traditional Bengali middle-class family, where academics were highly prioritised, Ankita's love for the arts bloomed early. By the age of three, she was already dancing, and she was a devoted fan of Shahrukh Khan, often enacting his iconic dialogues from the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai while still in grade four. Her artistic inclinations were nurtured through her ‘Visharad’ degree in Fine Arts, alongside her participation in numerous dance competitions during her formative years.
Ankita Roy’s journey to the stage wasn't without its challenges. Despite her deep-seated desire to pursue acting, she initially followed a more conventional path, earning her graduation and master’s degrees in Psychology.
However, her passion for performing arts never waned. After graduating, Roy moved to Mumbai for a job as a psychologist, yet her heart remained with her dream of becoming an actor. Eventually, she returned to Kolkata, determined to carve out a career in acting, even if it meant investing all her savings and facing significant resistance from her family, who viewed the arts as merely an extracurricular activity.
Reflecting on her journey, Ankita Roy acknowledges some missteps along the way, particularly her decision to invest in television shows despite warnings from others. However, she finds solace in the recognition she has gained as an actor, considering it her most significant achievement.
Ankita Roy draws inspiration from her elder brother, who has always been a source of motivation and guidance, encouraging her to pursue her passion. Her admiration for Shahrukh Khan remains strong, a testament to the influence he had on her early aspirations.
In her spare time, Ankita enjoys immersing herself in spiritual and motivational literature, as well as indulging in her love for dance. To manage stress, she finds comfort in spending time with her pets, practising affirmations, and meditating. For her, a trip to the beach is the ultimate stress buster, offering a peaceful escape.
