Ankita aspired to become a doctor, but due to her creative flair, she emerged as a writer and lyricist. Today, she is working with bigwigs of the film industry and moving towards great heights.

Ankita Khattry is a Writer and Lyricist. She is well-known by the name ‘Naadan’ in the film industry. She has been actively writing songs for the past two years and is based in Mumbai. However, from the point of view of literature, she has been writing professionally in the form of poetry for the past ten years.

Ankita was born in Ranchi but brought up in Varanasi. She received all her school and college education from Varanasi itself. She says that she wanted to become a doctor just like her father as she was good at studies and had also given medical entrance tests. It was then that her aunt mentioned to her about her creative instincts and motivated her to pursue a career in arts instead of science. Then she graduated in Fine Arts.

Alongside college, Ankita started her writing journey at nineteen in the Journalism sector by writing for The Times of India newspaper. Later, she also wrote articles for many prominent newspapers and magazines. Then she took a short break due to her marriage and started working as a copywriter at her husband’s advertising agency. Gradually, her writing started emerging in the form of poetry collections, and for the past two years, she has been associated with the film industry as a lyricist.

Recalling her childhood memories, Ankita says that growing up in a cultural and literature-rich environment, she joined an organization at a young age, which used to perform aarti, havan, and cultural programs on the banks of the Ganges. That started drawing her attention and she actively participated in those activities.

Talking about her struggles, Ankita says that she struggled a lot between a guided and restricted life in Varanasi and a free life in Mumbai. But eventually, she succeeded in making her existence there in the film industry. Apart from this, she also took many stumbles by trusting the wrong people, but ultimately, she achieved a lot in life by learning from them.

Regarding her achievements, Ankita says that three of her books have been published under her writing stint of ten years, giving her a sense of pride. Besides, her first ever song was released by T-Series which was highly appreciated by everyone and it won her the ‘Best Lyricist Award’ by Clef Music Awards, which was her biggest achievement.

Sharing her COVID experience, Ankita says that she was contacted by many music directors during the pandemic because of her writing talent and offered screenwriting jobs. Apart from this, she got a chance to participate in PM Modi’s Samvaad Katha, 2020 and she was one of the eight people to interact with him. After the show, PM Modi tweeted her  creation personally and it proved to be a huge success for her as a writer.

Ankita likes to be close to nature in her spare time.

Advising the youth, Ankita says to always go with the flow and stay away from stereotypical notions as there is no difference between a male and a female in today’s era. She advises them to take care of their emotional and mental health to be confident and expressive.
