Anjali Sethia is trying to get a foothold in the digital marketing field with her one year old company. She has done a lot of blogging too.

Anjali Sethia is the owner of The Virtual String, a digital marketing company. She started the company last year during the lockdown. Anjali is a strategist in the company helping companies and brands start their journey.

Anjali was born and brought up in Guwahati, However, she had her schooling, graduation and post-graduation from different cities. She was always looking up at new challenges, wanted to be explored more and was always eager to do something creative. So, she started blogging when she was in school as it was a new thing those days.

But, after 12th, she had to choose a career field. She chose journalism and studied Mass Communication and Journalism. Although Mass Comm. was not a big thing  those days, families wanted everyone to become a Doctor, Engineer or CA, she chose it as she wanted to do something off-beat. She says she was never stable in her choices. She has been a RJ, has worked in a news channel, in a PR company, taught in a school and lastly has worked in an ad-agency for three years to gain some experience before starting her own venture.

Anjali says she had good exposure working in the ad-agency where she discovered herself. During the Covid lockdown she realised it was a good time to start her own digital marketing company. She has always made her own decisions. Her family never stopped her from doing whatever she wanted to do. She says she has achieved whatever she has, with her own ability. She was featured in Zee5 which she considers a great achievement so early in her career.

Anajli says she has always been in a hurry. Earlier she wanted to be a newsreader. But when she came to know about the hardship it entailed, the patience and time required to reach that position, she left the pursuit.

Anjali is pained that older people do not recognize blogging as a proper career. When she started blogging it was not given much importance by her family or friends. She regrets not continuing with it. She says if she had kept on doing it, she would have been an established blogger now, since six years have passed since she started blogging.

Her message for youngsters is that come what may, don't give up on anything. If you keep on doing the thing which you like you will surely one day get where you wanted to be. You may have alternative ideas, you can balance things but do not give up.

For anyone aspiring to join digital marketing, her advice is that first have experience. You shall work in a company, learn how things work, improve your communication skills and gain knowledge. She thinks digital marketing is a big field with a wide spectrum. You also need good networking to succeed in this field.

Anjali says she does not have a particular role model in life. But, she feels inspired when she reads success stories of young people like her who had innovative ideas and who have already made their mark. She thinks if they can do it why can't she?

Anjali regrets that in order to balance things as per the thinking of her family or society, she sometimes made mistakes in her decisions. If she could go back in time, she wants to start it all over again.

Whenever she is stressed, she solves crosswords. That relaxes her mind. She also reads a lot of articles about people, their journeys and their successes. The articles give her creative ideas.

She laments she did not get much encouragement to implement her ideas. As a result, she lacked the will power to start her own venture earlier. Once, she saw a quote by Dhiribhai Ambani that if you do not try to achieve your dreams yourself, someone else will hire you to achieve their dreams. This quote inspired her to go and start her own company with determination.
