Victory is beyond Fear.
Anita Jayakumar has around fourteen years of corporate experience in the BFSI sector. However, for the last seven years, she has been running her two startup companies. She is the founder of ‘The Mind Stream’ and Co-founder of ‘The Money Stream.’ Under this, she provides investment advisory service to affluent clients in order to manage their wealth. Under Mindstream, she offers training, coaching and consulting services to individuals and corporate houses.
Anita says that her journey of becoming an entrepreneur from a successful professional started when her father’s dream of becoming a successful businessman could not be fulfilled. Her father even faced acute financial difficulties in his business, so with a thought of fulfilling her father’s dream, she along with her brother, decided to do something of their own. Eventually, she quit her corporate life to become an entrepreneur.
Anita belongs to Kolkata, West Bengal and she did her schooling from there itself. She did her B. Arch from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
Talking about her struggles, Anita says that she was hesitant to take the decision of leaving her blue collar corporate job to become an entrepreneur. She was self-doubting whether she would be able to run the business successfully and if not she may face a lot of challenges while getting her job again.
Anita says that she considers her father as her role model because he always taught her to learn something or the other from every person you meet in life and to do whatever you do wholeheartedly. She draws inspiration from people who never gave up and stood by her in her bad times. Her mother and husband are also her role models for always advising her and helping her grow.
Anita says that during the Covid pandemic, all the businesses were in turmoil and so was hers. She says that her training and coaching as well as financial planning sessions were based on face-to-face interactions and physical presence of a client. But due to the imposition of the lockdown, everything was closed and she started to panic because she had no other income source. But to keep herself positive, she put in consistent efforts to cope up with the challenges and shifted her business to the online modes. Apparently, her business’s graph started scaling up again. On the personal front, she tried her hand at cooking and also worked on her personal relationships at home.
Advising the young generation, Anita says that you should do whatever you desire to do but keep your mindset strong and stick by your decision as afterwards you should not have any second thoughts about it. In addition, she suggests them to move ahead fearlessly and without thinking about people’s reaction. Also, she advises to work under the guidance of a mentor of your field.
