Anil Mehta has been working as a Principal at Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic College for the past twelve years.
Anil was born in a small village named Bambora near Udaipur. His primary education till the 5th standard took place in villages like Badi and Bedla in Udaipur. After that, his family moved to Udaipur city.
Anil then pursued Civil Engineering and did his masters in Water Resource Management. He shares that his interest in environment conservation and nature preservation was the reason he opted for the subjects he did.
Talking about the COVID pandemic, Anil expresses his grief that so many lives were lost and hardships were created during that period. He says that they at Vidya Bhawan, under the guidance of their director, Ajay Mehta, worked hard to ensure proper education opportunities to their students. They shifted to online mode and also helped those students who could not afford equipment needed for continuing their studies. Through the ‘Wellness Center’ of their institute, they helped people maintain their mental health through psychological counseling.
Talking about his role models, Anil says he believes that we learn from each and every person we meet in the journey of our life. He learned from everyone starting from his parents. Everyone who guides, helps, inspires, motivates and pushes us forward is a role model according to him.
If given a Time Machine, Anil would like to go back to the time when our nature was more intact and cleaner and would like to save it from getting where it has got today. He would also like to go back to his childhood days when kids were still innocent and playful.
Anil has two important messages for our youth. First is to fulfill the aspirations of their parents by becoming self-sufficient and by securing a good future. The second one is to take out some time for our society and nature and work for its betterment.
Whenever Anil gets free time from his professional duties, he likes to work for the environment and nature conservation. He is associated with organizations like ‘Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti’ and works in this field. Also, he likes to engage in conversations with the youth about these issues and likes to pen down his thoughts through poems, articles and commentaries.
