Anandita is a music teacher at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. She has been teaching here for the past twenty-five years.
Anandita says that she was born into a family of music enthusiasts. Her parents and grandparents were inclined towards classical singing, and under their guidance, she started her training. Soon, Anandita started training under Guru Shailendra Kumar Singh (Narayan Babu) and started learning Khayal and other classical styles of singing.
Anandita shares that her interest in singing was also augmented by singing the songs of Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, and Vidhushi Kishori Amonkar. Slowly, her interest in the Khayal and Thumari forms of singing increased, and Anandita also gained a liking for the creations of poet Vidyapati. Anandita also adds that she was highly inspired by Dhrupad and Khayal singing by Guru Shri Shailendra Kumar of the Gwalior Gharana.
Talking about her mistakes, Anandita says that managing various things sometimes became difficult for her. Also, she feels that postponing any work to tomorrow is also a habit we should stay away from.
When asked about her motivational mantra, Anandita says that we should only do what we are good at in life and teach it to future generations. Also, Anandita adds that the peace one gets by working honestly and helping others is also surreal, and she tries to work for that as well.
Anandita advises young aspirants to the field of classical music to be patient in life, as learning classical art is not a day's work. Also, she advises them to find a good guru to learn from and also take formal education in the field from good institutions.
Talking about her hobbies, Anandita says that she likes listening to music, reading, gardening, and spending time with children in her free time.
