Though Dr. Anand had never considered going into law, fate had different plans for him. Now a law professor and dean, his accolades include prestigious honours like the Bhamashah and Devang Mehta Awards. He has also published four books and 30 research papers in reputed journals.

Prof. (Dr.) Anand Paliwal is the Dean & Chairman of University College of Law, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur (Raj.). Prior to that, he was a professor at BN Law College.

Dr. Paliwal was initially a science student. After completing his schooling, he got a chance to pursue Mechanical Engineering but did not opt for it as he was not interested in that stream. Instead, he pursued a Company Secretary course, which proved to be a turning point in his life.

Dr. Anand further shares that a senior lawyer used to teach them while he was pursuing CS. He was inspired and motivated by this senior lawyer, and with his encouragement, he pursued law. Thereafter, he completed his LLB, LLM, and PhD from MLSU. He also appeared for examinations for the judicial services.

Dr. Anand shares that in the early days of his career, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Law at BN Law College. Later, he was appointed Principal there. He has learned a lot from his professional journey and enjoys interacting with students.

Recalling his childhood memories, Dr. Anand says that he had to travel a lot because his father was a government employee with a transferable job. As a result, he had to move frequently from one place to another across the country, which made schooling difficult.

Dr. Anand professes 'Ignorantia Juris non excusat’, which means ‘Ignorance of law is no excuse’. Therefore, knowing the laws is mandatory for every citizen of India. Awareness of the law is important in today’s day and age even for the layman. There are lots of career options in law, too. He advises that the students studying law should start focusing on their career plans from the first year itself and make their basics strong.

When asked about his role models, Dr. Anand mentions that his father is his inspiration, and he has learned to be determined and hardworking from him. Moreover, he also considers his senior lawyer teacher as his role model, who was very renowned in judicial circles and was the person who inspired and motivated him to pursue law instead of any other profession.

Talking about his achievements in life, Dr. Anand says that he has won gold medals in his LLB, LLM and PhD. He also cleared the UGC-NET in his first attempt and was awarded a UGC Research Fellowship. He is a member of various committees and academic bodies of state and central universities and a visitor’s nominee in central universities. His accolades extend to receiving prestigious awards like the Bhamashah and Devang Mehta Awards.

With four books and 30 research papers published in esteemed journals, he's also guided 15 candidates for earning their Doctor of Philosophy in Law. Additionally, he has attended many national and international seminars as Keynote Speaker and chaired sessions in national and international conferences. Notably, he has led a major research project for ICSSR and presently contributes as a member of the Law Commission of India.

Dr. Anand feels very sad to see students committing suicide. He asks such students to have Swami Vivekananda and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as their role models. He believes that one should have faith in their work and never lose hope. God has a plan for everyone.

On a concluding note, Dr. Paliwal asks everyone to “Work honestly and always think positively."
