A tourist guide who faced many difficulties initially,  Amit stayed in the field as he enjoyed sharing the culture of Rajasthan and learning from the different cultures across the world.

Amit Kumar Meena is a guide at Jantar Mantar in Jaipur. He has been working in the tourism sector for twenty years.

Recalling his childhood, Amit says he was born in Jaipur and completed his education from Jaipur itself. After his BA, he wanted to join judicial services and started pursuing law. However, as his father was in the tourism sector, he also started working as a guide because his father told him to do so. Gradually, he started liking meeting new people and promoting the culture of Rajasthan.

Later, someone suggested that he study any foreign language in order to enhance his career as a tourist guide. He went to Ahmedabad to learn French. Currently, he is pursuing an MA in French from Rajasthan University. Meeting French people further developed his communication skills, and he also learned about French culture.

When asked to compare education and experience, Amit says education and experience both have their own importance in life and career. Education helps us learn the lessons of others, and experience helps us create our own.

When asked about his role models, Amit says he considers his parents as his role models because he has learned a lot from his father. His father taught him to work hard and try to reach the top level in the field of his choice.

Talking about his challenges, Amit says tourism is a soft industry, and the pandemic impacted it a lot, which led to an increase in his challenges as many of the guides were changing professions. However, his friends from other countries motivated him to not give up.

Advising young people, Amit says you have to set a target in order to achieve success in the field of your choice. Furthermore, he suggests not wasting time and energy and first achieving your goal and later enjoying life,

If given a chance to go back in time in a time machine, Amit would like to spend time with his family again.

In his free time, Amit likes to watch the news and play sports.
