An entrepreneur and proud Rotarian, Amit Jain draws inspiration from his father's business legacy and believes in community service, particularly in addressing mental health issues through the Rotary Club. He emphasises the importance of vision, ethics, and hard work in business, encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to view failure as a stepping stone to success.

Amit Jain is a Co-founder of Ramdoot Cargo in Udaipur. He is also Secretary of Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva.

In addition to his role at Ramdoot Cargo, Amit Jain has also ventured into the hospitality sector with a new project. Five years ago, he established Dasmaya Resort, a "baby project" that has allowed him to diversify his business interests while continuing to build on his family's legacy of entrepreneurship.

Amit Jain also serves as the Club Secretary of the Rotary Club of Udaipur Yuva for the Rotary year 2024-25. He shares that the mission of Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva is to empower the youth through leadership development, communication, community service, and social engagement. "Yuva," he says, "is not just a club, but a thought and a vision aimed at making things better for society." The club was established with the intention of fostering new thinking and innovative approaches to helping people, aligned with Rotary International’s central motto, ‘Service Above Self’, which emphasises using one’s talents and services for the benefit of others.

Amit Jain proudly highlights a recent project organised by Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva on Mental Health, an issue he considers particularly pressing in today’s world. He believes that mental health has become a crucial topic for the current generation, as stress impacts not only youngsters but also adults. Many individuals struggle to cope with modern day pressures, and Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva provides a platform to address these challenges by promoting mental health awareness and support.

In addition to mental health initiatives, the club focuses on various societal contributions, including donations and community-driven programs. Amit emphasises that Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva is a platform for collective action, where members unite to bring about meaningful, positive changes to society, always with the goal of helping others and providing support where it is most needed.

Amit Jain shares that Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva is actively involved in numerous projects, focusing on areas such as the environment, education, and empowering the underprivileged by nurturing the skills they possess. Whether it's helping someone learn painting or providing sewing machines to those interested in tailoring, the club works to uplift individuals by supporting their talents. For Amit, the most rewarding aspect of Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva is the ability to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, such as empowering artists by giving them the resources they need to pursue their passions.

Amit passionately believes that social work is a true blessing, describing it as an immensely fulfilling experience to contribute to someone’s growth and success. For those who are interested in joining Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva and making a difference, Amit encourages them to visit the club's Instagram page, Rotary Club Yuva, or send him a direct message to connect and learn more about the club's initiatives.

Amit Jain was born and raised in the vibrant city of Udaipur. He pursued his higher education locally, completing his post-graduation from Pacific University, Udaipur. Today, he is a partner at Ramdoot Cargo, a well-established logistics firm founded by his father, Kirti Jain, over 40 years ago. What began as his father's entrepreneurial venture has now evolved into a thriving family business, with Amit and his elder brother proudly carrying forward the legacy, contributing to the firm's continued success and growth.

Amit Jain proudly talks about the humble beginnings of Ramdoot Cargo, which was started by his father with just a small team of one cleaner, one driver, and two staff members. Today, the company has grown into a family of more than 400 employees, operating across Gujarat and Rajasthan. With 14 branches in these two states, Ramdoot Cargo is connected to over 800 companies, reflecting its vast reach in the logistics industry.

For Jain, one of the most rewarding aspects of this business is the impact it has on people's lives. "We don’t just work, we deliver happiness," he says, emphasising the importance of timely deliveries and the satisfaction of their clients. For him, receiving positive feedback from customers when they get their materials on time is the greatest achievement, as it reinforces the values his family business stands for.

Amit Jain further emphasises a unique aspect of the logistics industry, noting that while many sectors around the world demand formal education, such as graduation and post-graduation, logistics stands out as an industry where skills and hands-on expertise are often valued more than academic qualifications. He deeply appreciates the hard work of the cleaners, drivers, and labourers who form the backbone of this industry, recognizing their contributions as essential to the business's success.

Recalling his childhood, Amit Jain fondly shares that he grew up in Udaipur, a city whose unique charm has always kept him rooted. While many of his friends left for higher studies elsewhere, the distinct atmosphere of Udaipur made it impossible for him to leave, and he has always preferred to live in his hometown. He completed his schooling at St. Anthony's Senior Secondary School and pursued college studies in Udaipur as well.

One of his favourite childhood memories is racing his bike around Fateh Sagar Lake, something he did 10-15 years ago when the area was open and less crowded for such activities. He describes this as a magical experience that today’s generation might not be able to fully appreciate, but it remains a cherished moment from his youth.

Coming from a business family, Amit Jain grew up getting inspired by his father’s hard work and dedication. Watching his father’s struggles taught him the importance of staying grounded and valuing things in life. This upbringing naturally influenced him to pursue a career in business, following in his father’s footsteps while building his own path.

When it comes to role models, Amit Jain holds his father, Kirti Jain, in the highest regard. He shares that his father has been a guiding force throughout his life, shaping his values and approach to business. Amit also deeply admires his elder brother, Mahim Jain, whose advice and support have been a blessing. Describing their relationship as more than just familial, Amit sees his brother as a friend who has consistently helped him choose the right path, especially during times when, as the younger sibling, he made mistakes. Mahim's guidance has always been there to correct and steer him in the right direction.

Amit also looks up to Ratan Tata and is particularly inspired by his famous quote, "I don’t believe in taking right decisions, I take the decision and make it right." This philosophy has significantly influenced Amit’s life. He believes that, as human beings, making mistakes is inevitable, but the key is not to dwell on regrets. Instead, he advises that if a wrong decision is made, one should focus on taking steps to make it right. For Amit, this mindset has been crucial to his personal growth and success, and he encourages others to adopt a similar approach.

He also shares his deep admiration for Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and is particularly drawn to a quote by the cricket legend: “If I am doing something 100 times, till the time it is giving a better result I won’t mind repeating it.” This mindset motivates Amit immensely, as he believes that the repetition of an action, even if it seems monotonous or leads to initial failure, can eventually lead to success. He explains that persistence and continuous effort are key to success, much like sharpening a knife over and over to perfect its edge. For Amit, this approach is essential to climbing the stairs of success, as consistent refinement and perseverance eventually yield better results.

In addition to Dhoni, Amit finds inspiration from contemporary young leaders like Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and Zepto’s CEO Aadit Palicha. He feels that in 2024, the landscape of inspiration has broadened, and it’s no longer necessary to seek wisdom only from older generations or established visionaries. Instead, young entrepreneurs and business leaders in the market offer immense inspiration and knowledge. Amit believes that the key to success lies in carefully choosing the right person or role model to learn from, as today’s world is filled with numerous sources of motivation, ready to be tapped into for those willing to seek it out.

Amit Jain’s journey to becoming a partner at Ramdoot Cargo has been marked by discipline and a commitment to learning. Twelve years ago, his father encouraged him to join the family business, recognizing his interest in pursuing a career in this field. From the outset, Amit was determined to gain a solid foundation, but he was also faced with the reality of hard work and no luxury. He began his career as an intern within the company, a mandatory step that underscored the importance of understanding every aspect of the business.

Initially, Amit was provided with a two-wheeler for commuting, and he did not have the perks of personal leisure time or a private office. However, he views this experience as invaluable, as it allowed him to learn the intricacies of the business from the ground up. He believes that understanding the foundational aspects of the company is a dignified way to appreciate the value of money and effort.

He emphasises the importance of empathy in leadership. He understands that before assigning tasks to team members, it is crucial to recognize the challenges they may face. This approach not only fosters a collaborative work environment but also equips him with the knowledge needed to support and guide his colleagues effectively.

His father's teachings have had a profound impact on him, instilling the belief in him that one must first work from the base level to ascend to higher positions within the company. Amit Jain learned that to become a successful leader, he must grasp the challenges faced by his team and provide them with the guidance needed to overcome these obstacles. He firmly believes that to become a wealth creator, one must think like an industrialist, a lesson he has internalised from his father's mentorship.

Over the span of twelve years, Amit Jain worked diligently across various departments within Ramdoot Cargo, gaining expertise in each area. This comprehensive understanding has not only prepared him for his current role as co-partner but has also equipped him with the skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to the company's growth and success.

For the new aspirants, Amit Jain advises that age should not hinder them from starting a business; anyone can embark on a journey at any time with a clear vision. He cites his father's example, who launched Dasmaya Resort at sixty, driven by a desire to explore new opportunities in hospitality.

He stresses the importance of ethics in business and believes that hard work is essential for success. He encourages newcomers to view failure as a necessary part of the journey, stating, "Failure is the first chapter of success." By learning from setbacks and maintaining a vision, aspiring business owners can forge their own paths to success.

Amit concludes by emphasising that your lives are shaped by several factors: the food you eat, the books you read, the media you consume, and the goals you set. However, he believes the most significant influence comes from the people we surround ourselves with, as they are the most valuable assets we can have in life.
