A businessman based in Udaipur, Amit, thinks that it would have been better had he worked with an organization, as it would have enabled him to better understand the concerns of an employee, which he somehow missed working at his parental business.

Amit Agrawal is heading the SVA Group of businesses in Udaipur. His business is in varied sectors such as marble mining and processing, education, and chemicals. In 2004, his father, with the aim of contributing to society, opened a college by the name of Vision School of Management in Chittorgarh. After that, they established the Aravali Group of Colleges in Udaipur. He is also the founder of Neerja Modi School in Chittorgarh.

Amit was born in Jaipur. When he was two years old, his parents shifted from Makrana to Udaipur. He studied at St. Paul’s School. He did his engineering at the University of Manchester in the UK. Thereafter, he did his PGDM in family business from the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research.

Amit says that his father is a very hard-working person and is an inspiration to many, including him. From his childhood, he would go with his father and see the way he would handle the business.

In 2009, after completing his MBA, Amit joined hands with his father’s business. Talking about the challenges he faced after joining the parental business, Amit says that he didn’t have to face many challenges as he always had his father beside him to guide him. But bringing innovation to the business has been a challenge for him, and he likes to solve problems and face challenges head-on.

Amit considers being able to look after his father’s business at the young age of 32 to be his achievement. Besides, establishing the Neerja Modi School in Chittorgarh in a span of nine months has been his biggest achievement.

Amit shares that the COVID pandemic has been a tough period for all sectors. During the pandemic, he tried his best to give salaries to all his employees in his businesses. Besides, he says that the pandemic affected the studies of students as they couldn’t attend their schools and colleges.

Amit has learned leadership from his father. He says that his father’s leadership style is such that he places his trust in people and delegates work to them accordingly, and this is the reason he has been able to do business in varied sectors.

Apart from his work, during his free time, Amit likes to spend time with his kids and play and watch movies with them. He is also fond of reading books.

To the youth, Amit advises that you should be very hardworking and practical in life. Besides, he also advises that your education will equip you with knowledge, but you will not learn in a real sense unless you work on the ground. Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, and you will get success.

Amit says that education is important in life, but you learn from your experience.

Amit’s life mantra is that your family should be your top priority, just as money and everything else are secondary. You can lose them anytime, but your family will remain with you forever. He also says that you should consider your employees as family members. He believes there is no shortcut to success in life.
