Alpa Porwal is a Primary Classes Teacher at Rockwoods High School. She has four years of experience of working there. She is also associated with an NGO called “Navya”.
Alpa hails from Udaipur. Recollecting her childhood memories, she says that she was a naughty and active kid, and had enjoyed a fulfilling childhood with two of her siblings.
Prior to working at Rockwoods, Alpa had worked in the banking sector. Initially she used to work at the Axis Bank as a CPO, followed by a stint at the ICICI Bank. She eventually switched to the teaching profession to be able to give time to her family.
Sharing about struggles in her life, Alpa says that the biggest one is to manage both work and family life being a single parent. She says that she is grateful to the Rockwoods School management as it has given instrumental support to make things comfortable for her.
Talking about role models in her life, Alpa says that she has two. First, she says, is her mother, who taught her vital life skills and stood with her in her toughest time. And the other being her colleague, Neeru Tandon who she regards as an ‘epitome of knowledge’ and says she has learned many things from her as well.
Speaking about the impact of COVID on her life, Alpa says that it was a devastating experience as she lost her grandmother to the disease. She was also having some emotional and financial issues but with support from her organisation, she was able to make it through the testing time.
When free, Alpa likes reading books and exploring new destinations. Her favourite thing to do is spending quality time with her son.
Given a chance to go back in time in a time machine, Alpa would like to go back to the joyful time of her MBA days when she had many good friends and less responsibilities to take care of.
