Alka Vivek Ghundiyal is an Assistant Professor and Head of the BCA Program at the School of Commerce, SVKM NMIMS (Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies) Global University in Dhule, Maharashtra.

With 24 years of teaching experience, she teaches programming subjects such as C, Java, Python, Database Management Systems, Web Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and many more. Along with teaching, she is actively involved in curriculum design and contributes to various activities organized by the college for the welfare and overall development of students.

Alka Ghundiyal was inspired to pursue teaching by her paternal and maternal aunts, both of whom were teachers. Watching their dedication and passion for the profession motivated her to become a teacher. In addition, during her school days, she always aspired to teach and would often teach her classmates on Teachers Day. These experiences further strengthened her desire to build a career in teaching.

After completing her post-graduation, an MSc in Computer Science, Ghundiyal wanted to work in a company. However, due to family circumstances, she was not allowed to pursue a corporate career. As a result, she began her teaching career in her hometown, Dhule.

After her marriage, Alka Ghundiyal took on various family responsibilities while also caring for her mother-in-law, who was suffering from cancer. Later, she devoted herself to raising her child, but these responsibilities never forced her to give up her career aspirations.

When her child reached the 8th standard, she decided to restart her career. She pursued an M.Phil. to strengthen her academic qualifications and continue advancing her knowledge. After completing her studies, she returned to teaching with renewed dedication and a strong commitment to education.

Born in Dhule, a small city near Nashik in Maharashtra, Alka Ghundiyal completed her schooling at Navjeevan English Medium School, located near her home. She pursued her higher secondary education and undergraduate studies at Jai Hind Senior College, Dhule. Later, she completed her post-graduation with an MSc in Computer Science from North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, Maharashtra.

Assistant Professor Alka Ghundiyal’s role models are her teachers, and she considers herself fortunate to have been guided by highly knowledgeable and disciplined mentors. Their dedication, values, and approach to teaching have been a constant source of inspiration and motivation throughout her career.

Ghundiyal believes this quote encourages people to stay dedicated, keep striving for excellence, and make the most of the time they have by giving their best in every aspect of life.

When it comes to her achievements, HoD-BCA at SVKM NMIMS, Alka Ghundiyal completed her MSc and M.Phil. in Computer Science and also qualified the UGC-NET examination, a significant milestone in her academic career.

Her message to students aspiring to enter the technical world is simple: don't just study to memorize things—study to understand them. Focus on building strong concepts rather than rote learning. The field of Computer Science is constantly evolving. When she began her studies, the primary programming language was C, but over time, technologies such as Java, Python, Artificial Intelligence, and many others have emerged. A strong conceptual foundation will help you adapt to changing technologies and succeed in the ever-evolving world of computing.
