A teacher, Alka, who completed her education after marriage and faced many ups and downs in life, believes that there is no age for learning.

Alka Sharma is a primary teacher at Alok Senior Secondary School in Udaipur.

Alka was born in Mathura and completed her higher secondary studies in UP. She was married into a doctor's family, thus giving her the motivation to continuously work and learn new stuff every day.

Recalling her childhood, Alka says that she had an excellent childhood. She was very naughty in her childhood. She grew up with a younger brother, for whom she cared a lot.

Talking about her journey, Alka says that she loves working as a teacher. Before she came to Udaipur, she did not have a lot of experience in teaching. Also, she did not have the perfect skill set required to become a teacher. She honed her skills at Alok School and has been an esteemed faculty member at this institution for the last twelve years. She pursued her education after getting married. She completed her B.A. and M.A. and later pursued a B.Ed. from Kashmir, where she studied until she was 40 years old.

When asked about her hardships, Alka says that she has struggled throughout and faced challenges. Despite all the adversities, she never gave up on her work and faced the challenges without self-doubt in her mind. This is what makes her an excellent professional teacher. Even today, she tries to learn new stuff daily, as it is important for a teacher to keep herself updated.

Sharing her COVID experiences, Alka says that COVID was a situation where randomness was ruling the country. She thought anything could happen with anyone. Everyone had time for family, which later resulted in increased family bonding. She also had financial issues, and her savings helped the family survive. Thus, she thinks saving is an important part of your financial planning.

Comparing education and experience, Alka says that both are important as they complement each other. She feels that education plays an integral role in a person's life. If you are educated, you will look at things from an innovative perspective.

Alka’s role model is her father, as he struggled and sacrificed a lot in his life. Her father supported the upbringing of her four kids and guided them throughout.

Alka says that if you are a teacher, you must absorb stuff and have discipline in yourself. Teachers are the inspiration for the students, so they must behave in that way. One should also have the leadership qualities to handle the students.

In her spare time, Alka likes to cook and serve food. She is also fond of reading.
