In comparison to outward beauty, mental toughness is more crucial.
Alka Batra is the Managing Director at Aegis Jobs Pvt. Ltd, Jaipur.
Alka was born in Jalandhar, Punjab, but her family shifted to Rajasthan when she was just two years of age. She studied at different schools because of the transferable job of her father. She completed her Masters from Rajasthan University in Jaipur.
Recalling her childhood, Alka says that she spent her childhood at various places and studying in different schools. She got married at the very young age of 19 and completed her M.Com. and MBA after marriage.
Speaking about her journey, Alka says that in the initial years of her career, she faced many challenges, as HR consulting was a new concept in Rajasthan and people were not ready to avail her services. But, slowly and gradually, she brought the people around to the concept of her services. She says that as a female, it is always very challenging to handle the clients.
Sharing her achievements, Alka says that she was recognized with the ‘Leading Lady of Jaipur Award’ in 2009. She has received three international, eleven national, and 150 state awards from various organisations. The biggest achievement for her is that she became a role model for many ladies and girls. She is also a part of various social organisations and regularly contributes to the welfare of society.
Alka also shares about her sports journey and says that she played badminton at the age of 15 and was selected for the national level. She was also playing in the masters national badminton for the past ten years. In the year 2019, she was selected for Team India and got a bronze medal. She says that at the age of 50, having played for her country is one of her biggest achievements. She also won silver and bronze medals at the All India Badminton Championships.
When asked about her role models, Alka says that she got influenced by Indira Gandhi because she was a very strong lady. Her role model is Kiran Bedi, as she is mentally strong.
Alka says that her sport, badminton, is a stress buster for her because she loves to play it. She also likes to listen to music to attain mental peace.
Sharing her life mantra, Alka says that you must first make a decision, act, and practice discipline.
