Alisha was born in Udaipur and has been raised in a joint family which she feels proud of. Her family includes her dad, mom and siblings who are twins. Her interest in cooking was aroused at a very young age when she was in 3rd grade. She made her first attempt at cooking by making upma which she burned! But she did not give up, rather she grew more fervent and started enjoying cooking more and more.
Alisha says it's so amazing to seeknow how food connects people. They eat when they are sad or happy, having good food always gives happiness. She was inspired by her grandmother who was an excellent cook and strong warrior, so is her mom. After her 12th, she always wanted to go into culinary arts , but being from a typical Marvadi family her father always wanted her to do something professional. So, she joined the University School of Law, Ahmedabad where she did her 5 years of Law in Criminal Honours. During her first year in law school she realised that it was not her cup of tea, so she wrote the IHM exam and scored high rank in it. But her dad insisted that as she had already enrolled for law so should complete it and then follow her passion for cooking.
She wanted to pursue her dream after graduating from law school, and by the end of 2018, she went to Paris to join the best culinary school where she did her one-year course and learned about all types of Cuisine like French pastry, bread etc. Her parents were her pillar, helping her pursue her dream. She adapted well to the community of Paris as a vegetarian and she had a very pleasant learning opportunity there. As the pandemic struck the entire globe during her internship in Paris, she had to return to India.
The enthusiasm she had within her made her think of the start-up business and she decided to utilize all the knowledge she had learnt in Paris. Udaipur being a small city, she decided to offer something new to the people and try to show to them how unique cuisines and desserts were around the world. Initially, her business began in her own home kitchen and then she shifted to her own studio kitchen in Subhash Nagar. She is so pleased and overwhelmed by the fact that the latest style, the new food, have been welcomed by the people of Udaipur.
In the beginning, she faced several difficulties how to reach out to people and convince them about her new business. She had friends who were very encouraging and helped her reach out to people. Yet she overcame the hardships and she is really loving her work now. Alisha began with basic desserts and breads with french touch, but now she is offering a wide range of layered cakes, French Breads, Puffs, Danish pastries, Macaroons, Cookies and many more in the list. She even offers a wide range of American and Indian Desserts too.
There were many ups and downs during her journey in the new startup. She had to compromise her sleep to get up at 4am in the morning, as she was alone managing all the baking and had only one person to assist her. On several occasions, she had to miss lunch with her family, as she had to deliver the orders in a timely manner.
Alisha emphasizes that to accomplish your goal, you have to make multiple compromises and sacrifices. Her success mantra is that never compromise on quality. She wants to advise people who would love to join such a business that they should always be on their toes, be proactive, creative, flexible and committed towards the work.
Alisha says that she is a born leader, even - घर पर भी मेरी चलती है|
If she had a chance to go back in time and change something, she would have only started her cooking venture much earlier. Cooking with her grandmother, playing in the field, cooking on chulhas and spending time with her big family were some of the cherished moments of her life. She loves cricket and reading books.
She has always looked up to her grandmother and her parents how they have reached success by never giving up and the strength they showed to fight the odds.
