Alankrita is an artist, storyteller, writer and activist who works for gender and animal rights. She is also the founder of ‘Claws,Paws and Cause’ in Noida.
She shares that ‘Claws, Paws and Cause’ is the name of her foundation that works for the welfare of animals. There are 15 to 20 volunteers working with this group. Their main motive is to feed the stray animals daily and to rescue them. She is also an avid reader and a storyteller as well as writer. She has an audience who love her art and using that audience, she is creating awareness about gender and animal rights. She is using her art and activism together and that is the reason she calls herself an ‘artivist’.
Alankrita also works as a friend of the LGBTQIA community. She explains that the LGBTQIA Community stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. She says that the reason behind choosing to work for this community is that she lost her friend in 2022 who was from this community.
Alankrita belongs to Kanpur and completed her schooling in Gurukul. Then she came to Delhi and did her graduation from Hansraj College, Delhi University. She says her college and the city itself played a vital role in shaping her career and understanding of the real world.
When asked about her role models, Alankrita says that she has many role models in her life. She is a spiritual person and believes in the teachings of Gautam Buddha. One of her favourite writers is Manto and she also admires Amrita Pritam. She wants to be a changemaker like them. The teachings of Gautam Buddha make her calm and composed. On the other hand, literature makes her feel educated, keen about learning new things and always open to new perspectives.
The song “Yeh hausla kaise jhuke, yeh aarzoo kaise ruke” inspires and motivates her a lot.
Sharing her achievements, Alankrita says that during her college days she joined a society named Equal Opportunity Cell that consists of visually-impaired, differently abled and specially abled students as a volunteer. Then in the third year of her college she became the President of that society, which was a huge achievement for her. Her friend, whom she lost in 2022, Arpit Bhalla created a Gender Equality Cell in her college for the first time and she was an ally to him at that point of time. Recently, she has also done a video with Josh Talks and also performed on more than 100 platforms. She has told stories, hosted shows and has been a part of a great literature community in Delhi.
In terms of struggles, Alankrita says she faced many challenges while working for gender rights and also had to face personal loss. To educate the people of this community is also a struggle for her and some people criticised her also. But she always sees the positive side and believes that success comes along with failures. She also faced many struggles in feeding the dogs and had to take permission from the higher authorities to feed them.
She advises the young generation that kindness is the thing that is needed the most today. If you are kind and compassionate then everything is sorted in life. She says that the only religion that somebody has to follow or anything that they want to value is Kindness. Be more compassionate, more open to new perspectives and more accepting.
