Akshay Bhardwaj is an Environment Officer. He is presently working in Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh, in the forest department.

Remembering his childhood, Akshay recalls being quite mischievous and uninterested in his studies. He scored only 48 percent in his tenth board exam, which bruised his ego and ultimately encouraged him to study. Because of his serious efforts, he received an 85% in his tests for the twelfth grade, securing the first place in his school.

Describing his professional development, Akshay says that enrolling in the masters programme marked a turning point in his life. His friend came to his help while he was going through a trying time in his life and helped him figure out the best path to go and how to channel his energies for the greater good. He moved to Delhi to study for government exams after being encouraged by a friend. He passed the government examination and joined the forest department. He attributes his success to his friend and advises everyone to surround themselves with friends who can lead them along the correct path.

Speaking about the challenges he faces in his line of work, Akshay says that educating and creating awareness among people about the issue of pollution and motivating them to take action in this regard is the biggest challenge. He says that people do not want to comprehend the problem and are not even prepared to participate in government-sponsored programmes to lessen pollution in the city. People are not worried about the negative effects of industrial waste, river contamination, and plastic usage. According to him, people can significantly reduce environmental pollution if they segregate their waste. Although many NGOs and government organizations are attempting to lessen the impact, the problem of environmental contamination cannot be resolved without the support of the people.

Akshay advises young people to utilize social media responsibly and avoid becoming dependent on it. He laments that almost everyone is currently attempting to establish themselves as social media influencers, and that others are wasting their time by following them. The youth must comprehend their main goal and the obstacles standing in their way. They ought to keep a trustworthy companion who can help them distinguish between right and wrong.

Akshay's piece of advice to the aspirants for government jobs is that they should quickly adapt to their new environment and maintain their motivation to sit for tests till they achieve their desired level of accomplishment. He thinks that even modest triumphs encourage people to pursue their goals more ardently.
