Value consistency over talent and hard work.
Value consistency over talent and hard work.
Akshat Irani, a Mumbai-based actor, has been in the film industry for twelve years. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in cinema, with his father being a prominent figure in Gujarati cinema, his uncle a renowned film producer, and his aunt, Aruna Irani, a legendary Hindi film actress, Akshat was immersed in both the worlds of education and entertainment.
His maternal family, filled with doctors and engineers, motivated him to balance both passions. In school, he focused on his studies, while after school, he would spend time on film sets, watching movie shoots. Following this path, Akshat earned an engineering degree while beginning his career as an assistant director for the first five years.
Akshat Irani started his journey in the industry by working with Nikhil Advani on Patiala House, starring Akshay Kumar, and assisting his uncle, Indra Kumar, on Double Dhamaal. His family emphasised completing his education before diving fully into the film world. After gaining valuable experience behind the camera, Akshat transitioned into acting. He also spent two years doing theatre to get direct feedback from the audience. He has since acted as the lead in six Gujarati films, with his notable works including Disco Dancer 2 and Jaiye Aap Kahaan Jayenge.
Reflecting on his career, Akshat Irani shares that he doesn’t see his missed opportunities as mistakes but as learning experiences. Early on, he passed on a few roles he wished he had taken, but it taught him the importance of seizing every opportunity at the right time.
Among his accolades, Irani is proud of winning the Best Debutant award and another for his first film Mister Kalakaar at the Gujarati Iconic Film Awards (GIFA). His other popular films include Adko Dadko and Ghantadi.
Akshat looks up to Akshay Kumar as his role model, having been inspired by his dedication to fitness and punctuality since childhood. He admired watching Akshay's disciplined routine, practising action scenes on his terrace, and managing his time effectively.
In his spare time, Irani enjoys cricket and football and has had the privilege of playing and learning alongside international cricketers.
To find peace, Akshat Irani reanalyzes his mistakes and goes for long runs or exercises to manage his emotions. His life mantra is simple yet powerful: "Get up every morning with a positive outlook and give your best. You'll eventually reach your destination."
Irani’s advice to newcomers is that consistency matters more than talent or hard work. He emphasises staying persistent in your field, whether you're getting work or not, and always being prepared for the next opportunity.
