Akash Barua is the Founder & President at Gurukul Dream Foundation.
Akash hails from a town near Agra. He moved to Gwalior after completing his ninth standard. He graduated in BSc Biology stream.
Sharing a turning point of his life, Akash says that once during his stint as a security guard, he was casually approached by a senior level government officer who invited him to a cycle rally. Upon reaching the venue, Akash got to meet him again and the officer said to him that “you are the average of five people around you” and it stuck in his mind. Then Akash started connecting with good people. He was then advised by one of his friends to pursue an MSW degree as he was already engaged in social work.
After joining a University to pursue his MSW, Akash got associated with many social groups and even became the President of the youth wing of a Rotary Club. During his three year Presidency at Rotary Club, Akash realised that he didn’t have a mentor. This inspired him to start an initiative for other youngsters and thus he came up with Gurukul Dream Foundation.
Talking about his foundation, Akash says that he started it with a vision to give practical education to students in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. He says that his foundation does this by taking students on industrial visits and helping them with their internship by setting up advisory boards. He also employs a concept of human libraries, in which they seek out retired professionals to add them in their advisory boards to help young students gain enormous knowledge in a short span of time. Akash believes that a mentor is extremely crucial for one’s professional journey and thus his foundation focuses on providing relevant mentors to students.
In his free time, Akash likes to socialise and meet new people.
Advising the younger generation, Akash says that you should use social media wisely and do things that you like to avoid mental stress. He also advises them to read books and live enthusiastically.
