Akanksha Choudhary is a Corporate Lawyer, Legal Consultant, and Research Associate at K. Agros, New Delhi. She has earlier worked for businesses and at the Supreme Court as an intern.
Akanksha was born and brought up in Udaipur where she completed her schooling at St. Mary's School. She subsequently pursued her BA-LLB at Jaipur National University.
Akanksha shares that her father, who was 43 at the time, wanted to have a legal degree, but his goal could not be fulfilled because legal degrees were not awarded beyond the age of 45. Akanksha agreed to enter the legal field in line with her family's wishes.
Although Akanksha claims that her greatest accomplishment is still ahead of her, she is happy that she is the first female in her family to seek higher education. Her family has always encouraged her and still hopes she will go on to win more laurels.
During her internship days at the Supreme Court, Akanksha recalls the incidents and challenges that shaped her decision to move away from advocacy and towards becoming a corporate lawyer.
Akanksha also experienced a horrible episode in Delhi, when she was working as an intern for a senior advocate who made fun of her because she was a girl and advised her to go home and take care of the household. According to Akanksha, there are still compensation gaps in many fields and that women are often treated differently than men. She learned from this experience that renowned people have two distinct personalities: one is displayed to the general public, and the other is shown to subordinate colleagues.
She also believes that although certain people can motivate you, no one actually makes you progress. Being true to yourself is, in her opinion, the sole foundation for success in life. Nobody is going to help us, according to Akanksha, therefore we have to create our own paths that lead to success.
Akanksha believes that the confidence to speak freely comes from financial independence. When you have stability in your finances, people respect you and your opinions.
Recalling her Covid-19 pandemic experience, Akanksha tells us that she was about to leave for Canada to start her LLM studies when the pandemic struck and the lockdown was put in place. She claims that Covid shattered her hopes at that time. She did, however, secure a job at K. Agros during that time, and she now believes that everything transpired as it had been meant to. In addition, Akanksha spent time with her family and learnt how to cook.
Akanksha believes that her parents have inspired her greatly. Akanksha’s parents have always encouraged her to pursue her goals and encouraged her to study more. As a working female, Akanksha’s mother executed every role in her life with graciousness. Akanksha’s mother had an amazing balance between her political activities, her teaching career, and her children's education. Akanksha claims that her mother is someone she looks up to and wants to follow.
She also tells us that she considers mistakes as life lessons and that she became a better person after learning from the mistakes.
According to Akanksha, her goal is to clear the RJS exam and enter the judiciary. She believes that having financial independence is essential for having a good life since it provides us a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
According to Akanksha, experience and education are interconnected and one is ineffective without the other. According to her, education aids in the process of selecting a career path and enables us to succeed in it. While experience helps in our ability to find better jobs afterwards in life, education shapes our personalities.
Akanksha would prefer to return to her pre-Covid workplace days in Delhi if she could get a time machine. She also wants to go back in time to relive her childhood along with changing some of the things that happened to her while she was growing up.
Akanksha enjoys going on a coffee trip with her family and friends and also enjoys reading books in her spare time. She loves shopping as well. Moreover, she likes to check her phone to stay current on trends during her free time. She also enjoys taking short holidays with her family to explore new locations in India. She wishes to visit other countries as well.
According to Akanksha, young individuals who want to pursue careers in law should be clear in their thinking and in what they want to do. In this field, there are a lot of opportunities that need to be properly evaluated. Instead of just doing it for a certification, young people should choose such internships where they could learn the fundamentals of the field.
Akanksha encourages everyone with her message that there are many lessons to be learned from life. Failure and experience also drive you to grow, learn, and progress. Stay true to who you are and pursue your goals. It's crucial to educate yourself by watching informative YouTube videos and reading books so you may gain insight from other people's experiences, hardships, and journeys. Eventually, choose your own goals and follow your own path.
