Ajit Kumar Patni had been a meritorious student throughout his student life. He completed his B.Com. from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. He ranked sixth in the overall merit list upon completion of his degree course. He wanted to pursue Chartered Accountancy but owing to his father’s sudden demise he had to take a different path.
Talking about hardships in his life, Ajit says that when he completed his B.Com. in the year 1983, he wanted to become a CA and thus joined the classes for the same. But soon after joining the classes, his father passed away and he had to quit his pursuit for CA. As he was the eldest of 6 siblings and his mother was just 37 years old at that time so he had to shoulder the responsibility of his family.
To support his family financially, Ajit came to Pratapgarh, a district in Rajasthan, and started working as an associate at SBI. He was withdrawing a meager 510 rupees monthly as salary and it was too less for the sustenance of his family. So to earn some extra money he started giving tuitions to the students there in Pratapgarh and thus he could support his family financially. He has shouldered all the responsibilities from education to marriages of his siblings and thus sustained the testing times of his life.
When his kids grew older Ajit had to move to Udaipur to provide his kids with higher education. And since 2007, he is working with SBI and has risen through the ranks within it. He is currently working as a manager at SBI.
For anyone who wants to make a career in the banking industry, Ajit advises that he should have a first-class B.Com degree and a good IQ.
If he could go back in time and undo something he would want to be a CA.
Sharing about a childhood memory Ajit says that during his 10th board exams he was the only one to have obtained a first division in his district and to celebrate that his father threw a party. This is the most memorable part of his childhood and he still reminisces it.
Ajit says education and experience go hand in hand. Education helps in gaining experiences.
During his free time, he likes to engage in philanthropic activities and aims to join an NGO upon retirement.
