We have to learn each and everything day by day.
We have to learn each and everything day by day.
Ajay Panwar hails from the Bhilwara district in Rajasthan and completed his schooling and B.Tech. from Bhilwara itself. He officially started the Robust Electric Vehicle in 2016 with his team. It was a college project that interested him too much to launch it into a business startup.
Similar to any other startup, Ajay encountered the typical challenges of having a business idea, assembling a team, and grappling with investment issues. Beyond the financial concerns, his team also confronted challenges related to development resources, staying updated on the latest technology, and managing the import of tech components.
In addressing the investment challenges, Ajay and his friends pursued part-time work, saved diligently, sold personal belongings, and sought assistance from friends and family. When he started, the competition in the market was mainly with international companies like Zero Motorcycles, Mission RS, and some Taiwan-based companies. Shortly, his company will be launching three products: Mark 3 (a mid-tier sports bike), Mark 4 (a normal performance scooter), and Mark 5 (a daily commuter bike). These bikes were supposed to be launched in 2021, but due to the COVID pandemic, Ajay had to reschedule them for next year.
Discussing the expansion of his business, he mentions that his team thrives on working as underdogs, aiming to emerge as the fastest and most enjoyable electric bike option. Given that electric vehicles involve a one-time investment, unlike traditional fuel bikes, he anticipates a projected demand increase of 15%–20% in the foreseeable future.
Since startups aren’t like jobs, Ajay spends most of his time planning, learning, and executing new ideas. Moreover, he likes to learn new things from Youtube or Udemy to boost his business. Also, Ajay likes working out in the morning and playing video games in the evening in his free time. He also likes to watch television shows and films.
Ajay feels that everyone learns from their journeys and experiences. Elon Musk and his father are his inspiration. He believes in incident-based inspiration. In his view, leadership develops with experience and requires sincerity and responsibility. One of his favorite quotes that motivates him to work hard each new day is, “If you want to shine like a sun, first burn like a sun.”
