Ajay Choubisa is a determined Advocate who has been providing his legal services and fighting for justice for the last twenty-seven years. His journey speaks of enthusiasm, honesty, and hard work.

Ajay Choubisa is an Advocate in the District and Sessions Court in Udaipur. He completed his M.Com & LLB in 1993, DLL in 1994, and received the certifications from the Bar Council of Rajasthan. Henceforth, from 1994 started working as an advocate.

Ajay joined his senior, Advocate Rajendra Singh Hiran, an established and learned advocate in Udaipur, and attended sessions under him. Ajay learned a variety of works like CRPC - absence letter drafting, working of various kinds of courts, preparing and documenting for cases, segregating files based on the stages in a case, finding references from books for judgements, taking photocopies, notes, form-filling for court proceedings, maintaining order sheets, etc.

Ajay talks about the Bar Council Elections held once a year in December. The election environment is competitive yet family-like. He says the council helps in organising meetings and building connections between the advocates. He also shares that the council organises picnics and other activities and seminars by High Court or Supreme Court Judges.

Coming from a non-law background, Ajay faced initial hiccups in the profession. He says gaining the trust of the public/clients as a newcomer is a hard job. However, with experience, good behaviour, and taking cases free of cost, one earns the trust and respect of the people. Ajay believes that Law is a good, independent, respectful, and challenging career option.

Ajay says Covid-19 brought many challenges to the field of Law. Many new advocates faced financial difficulties. The proceedings of the court stopped or got shifted to online. Cases were discussed on video conferencing, and the limitation period got extended. However, the department arranged for vaccination drives and followed all safety precautions.

Ajay’s role models are his seniors and mentors, Advocates Rajendra Singh Hiran and Mahendra Singh Chauhan. They are learned and experienced lawyers in Labour Law and Corporate Law. Ajay admires their knowledge, experience, and way of dealing with cases. He got the chance to work and learn from them.

Between Education and Experience, Ajay favours Experience. He believes that education is essential and makes one eligible to enter the field of Law. But, experience is understanding different cases and presenting them logically in the court of law.

Ajay feels that back in the 90s, there were comparatively fewer false cases than now. Therefore, he advises all the young and aspiring advocates to work hard with determination and honesty, always be hopeful, and never make money a priority. Following these principles in work will guarantee success.
