Aditya Mehrotra is a BBA 3rd year student. In the year 2019, he founded Sarang Welfare Society in Kolkata. His aim is to reach all the sections of the poor and the old age people and help them in whatever way he can. Aditya with his society members, also helps the transgenders, the most ignored section of the society in his opinion. He also works for two other NGOs- Kartavya and Blood Connect.
Aditya was born and brought up in Kolkata. Since childhood, he had been interested in social work. He saw his uncle donating food and clothes and many other things to people on a regular basis.
Talking about his journey of starting Sarang, Aditya says when he got the opportunity to start an NGO, he became positive and faced all problems with grit. He started with only eight co-founders. Within two years, his team has grown and now he has more than 80 members. As time passed, everything became favorable to him.
Describing their work through Sarang, Aditya says that he, with his team, works for every section of society. They collaborate with other NGOs and diversify their work. They have covered many states in India. Sarang also interacts with the society of transgenders, listens to their problems and supports them. They also promote education by reaching the rural areas and providing them with stationery and books.
Talking about his struggles, Aditya says that managing his studies along with the social work is difficult for him. But his positive attitude and self motivation helps him to get all the work done.
