A classical dancer and teacher, Abu started learning dance at a very young age and now as a teacher, believes in spreading his knowledge of dance to his students.

Abu K. M. is a classical dancer and HOD at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady in Kerala.

Abu hails from Muthanga, Wayanad.

Abu shares that he did his masters in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam from RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura. He did his PhD from Kerala Kalamandalam. Thereafter, he has been teaching at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit for the last 20 years.

Sharing about his journey, Abu says that he started learning dance when he was ten, under the guidance of his guru. He also participated in several competitions at his school. He says that he was initially afraid of self-choreography, but he overcame his fears and choreographed many dance items.

When asked about his role models, Abu says that Dr. Ajay Kumar, his research guide, has influenced him a lot.

Abu says that seeing his students perform and excel in the field gives him satisfaction.

Abu’s life mantra is to love and be loved.
