Abinash Sarma is a talented playwright and theatre director from Guwahati. He began his journey as a painter and later moved into acting before finding his true passion in directing theatre. After many years of hard work, he retired as a joint director in the cultural department, but he continues to be active in the world of theatre.

When asked about his achievements, Abinash sarma says that he has received the highest excellence award in the state and also the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the theatre direction. He has directed 82 plays till now. He also designed the Republic Day tableau in 1986 and got the first prize for it. He still designs logos and covers and feels that his accomplishments make him more responsible in life.

He also feels proud of working with many renowned people in the theatre field, as well as those just starting their journey in theatre. He considers the stage his 'Pathshala' and believes that he will always remain a student in life.

Looking back at his childhood, Abinash Sarma describes it as a golden time in his life. He comes from a poor background, with his father working as a school teacher. Abinash Sarma started from scratch and faced many struggles in his personal and social life. He managed to study at night colleges while working during the day, showing his strong determination.

He reflects on his past and has one regret: not taking the opportunity to learn Sanskrit seriously, a tradition in his family. He now understands the value of the language more than he did before.

Talking about his role models, Abinash Sarma says that he has worked with many great artists, but the one who inspires him the most is the renowned playwright Arun Sarma, who is a winner of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the Sahitya Akademi Award, and is also a Padma Shri recipient.

Abinash Sarma says that his life mantra is to love yourself. He feels that self-love is the best kind of love.

Advising everyone, Abinash Sarma says that success cannot be achieved in a day and that we have to struggle and keep patience in life. According to him, patience is the key to success.

Abinash reads a book or plays with his four-year-old grandson whenever he feels stressed.
