Abhishek Sharma is a Kathak Dancer. He has been running his Dance Institution called ‘Nrityashala - Center for Dance’ in Jaipur for five years now. He has also been associated with Investment Banking and other financial services for the last thirteen years.
Abhishek was born in Bikaner. He did his schooling from RSV School there. In 2009, he shifted to Jaipur to live with his parents. He did his MA in English. He also did a Degree course in Kathak from Jaipur Kathak Kendra.
About his childhood memories, Abhishek says that he had been fond of Music, Dance and Art since the beginning. Also, being fascinated about stories since childhood, he chose Theater and Dance to pursue further.
Abhishek shares that he started his Dance journey in 2005, by learning a Western Dance form. But he got bored of it soon. Then he thought of learning an Indian Classical Dance form inspired by its roots in Hindu Musical Theater styles. So he earned multiple graduation and masters degrees from different universities to achieve his expertise in Kathak.
Abhishek considers Kishore Singh Rajput, his teacher from school, as his role model because of the way he speaks. Also, he considers his maternal uncle as his role model for always inspiring him to learn and move ahead in life. In addition, he draws inspiration from Dr. Abdul Kalam, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.
When asked about his Covid experience, Abhishek says that before the arrival of Covid, he was working in a private school. But as soon as Covid struck, he lost his job as all the schools along with other businesses were closed. It was quite disturbing for him. On a personal front, he considers it as his best time because after a long time he got a good big break from work. He utilized this time to develop new skills and learn creative things.
According to Abhishek, both Education and Experience are equally important. He says that sometimes knowledge beats experience, no matter how experienced you are. Although experience is important, because you decide your path ahead based on it . On the other hand, it is important to gain at least a basic knowledge to lead your life in the right direction.
If Abhishek gets a chance to travel in a Time Machine, he would like to go back to his school life and relive it.
Abhishek advises aspiring artists to practice discipline in order to grow in your field. He further says that it is better to develop your skills than to waste your time on social media and move ahead in a motivated way.
