You can get cameras and other equipment in the market, but you cannot buy creativity and talent. You have to learn and develop them.

Abhinav Nagda has been running his studio, Image Sutra for the last five years and has created a name for himself. His company does all types of photography like wedding photography, corporate shoots, profile photography etc.
When Abhinav was in college he became an insurance advisor. He was successful in it and earned good money and built a good network. He completed his graduation and also did MBA in Finance and Marketing. He was placed in a bank and worked there for a year.
Then he came across a US based MNC which was dealing in photography related products like albums. He liked the idea and joined it even on a lesser salary as he was young, had no liability and wanted to learn new things. He joined as an executive and progressed to area sales manager within five years. He was good in sales and was awarded ‘salesperson of the year’ three times.
Then he left the job and started his business of photography. Before that he had tried a few things as he had a Diploma in Aviation and Hospitality. He had even started a KPO. But he abandoned all that and concentrated on photography and established Image Sutra.
Abhinav’s success mantra is that you must always learn to make your customer happy. He thinks that there is no fixed parameter to judge success. In his opinion, if you sleep happily at night, you are successful.
Talking about sacrifices, Abhinav says that in his line the biggest sacrifice is that you cannot attend the weddings of your friends or relatives as all your work is concentrated in the wedding season. Besides, photographers mostly work on Sundays and holidays and therefore have to sacrifice family time.
Asked about setbacks and challenges, he says that the Covid time has been a big setback for his industry as every activity like weddings came to a stop. The biggest challenge in this field, according to him, is that you work for four months in the season and you have to earn enough to sustain for the entire year. You must also earn enough money to upgrade your technology in order to survive.
To youngsters joining this field his advice is that they should first learn the art of photography with patience and not think of earning big money from the beginning itself.
Abhinav considers his father as his role model who taught him hard work and discipline. He taught Abhinav how to never fail in life.
Abhinav is of the opinion that there is no course for leadership. It only comes by experience. He thinks that a leader should always lead from the front.
If he is put into a time machine and taken back in time, he would like to learn more about sales because that is what he likes. He thinks he is a field person and not an office-person.
Abhinav remembers his childhood days spent in his village Sisarma near Udaipur when they had a lot of fun. He was fond of sports and played cricket, volleyball etc.
Abhinav considers education and experience as two wheels of a vehicle. He thinks that education is the foundation and experience builds your life on that foundation.
His idea of fun is going on tours in India and abroad and also socializing. He also organizes get-togethers of his former clients and wedding couples to sustain his relationship with them.
