Even after facing many struggles at a very young age, Abhilash has been proving himself useful to society by working ardently to provide proper education to underprivileged children through his NGO. He also worked diligently during the COVID crisis despite being infected himself.

Abhilash Sinha is the CEO and Co-Founder of the NGO, Little Seeds, where they work together to educate children and enroll them into schools.

Abhilash was born and brought up in Delhi. He had a large family of six members, and his father was the only earning member. He studied at various local schools and was never a studious kid.

Tragedy struck his family when his father expired and Abhilash was only in twelfth standard at that time. This incident was very heartbreaking for him and he went into depression for around three months. But he somehow gathered himself together and, encouraged by his coaching teacher, he began teaching some  students to earn some money to pay his fees. This proved to be very helpful for Abhilash, as not only he scored a very good percentage in the twelfth class, but also his experience in teaching started very early on.

In 2018, Abhilash started his NGO with a vision to educate underprivileged children of his locality. He also took help from his mother to avail resources. Then he went to the locality where there were many kids who were not going to school. After meeting their parents and some counseling, Abhilash finally convinced them to send their kids to his home to study. When some kids started coming to his home, he, with other volunteers, began preparing their documents like Aadhar Cards, birth certificates, etc. to get them enrolled into schools. His hard work paid off and three of his students got admission into a prime school of Delhi in EWS quota, and two of them got into government schools too.

This gave Abhialsh even more motivation and he formed a larger team with most volunteers from a young age group. They used the example of their previous five students who got quality education through their efforts to assure parents and enrolled even more students in their NGO. He took help from his mother to get one more room to accommodate increased students, which her mother approved. Along with studies, Abhilash and his team also inculcated various fun activities for children to increase their participation and interest. With time, the number of volunteers in the NGO only grew. This trust of parents and enthusiasm of the volunteers helped more than 500 children to get admission in schools and receive formal education.

With growing confidence and support, Abhilash decided that it was high time that he expand his NGO to outside of Delhi too. He says, currently, they have 100 team members and an unlimited number of volunteers from various places.

Abhilash considers his late father to be his role model, who was very helpful to people and looked for any opportunity to do social service. He says that his father’s example inspired him to work in the field of social service.

If Abhilash could manifest any one of his wishes, he would like to get his father back into his family and also fulfill his dream to own a car.

Although the NGO is a big part of Abhilash’s life and he spends most of his time growing it, whenever he gets free from that, he devotes his time to his books and research, and organising his career plans.

Abhilash says that the pandemic was really an unexpected and challenging event. Initially, they kept working in the rural areas, as the first wave didn’t affect villages much. But after some time, following the COVID guidelines, they tried to continue their operations through virtual mode. Later Abhilash, with his team, decided to help contribute to the COVID relief efforts too. They made teams and worked on a rotational basis. They also contacted PHCs and local leaders to work effectively. They collected funds by individual contributions and helped the affected families with food and necessary ration. While working everyday in the field, Abhilash himself got infected with the virus, but didn’t sit back and kept working in isolation. He was also kept isolated for a total of 60 days without being positive because he unknowingly and frequently got into contact with a COVID positive person but he didn’t stop.

Abhilash says that his success mantra is clear : to help the underprivileged people. He firmly believes that helping the ones who can not help themselves will give you true satisfaction. He is confident that if everyone in the society comes together to help each other, no one will suffer.
