Hard work, dedication, focus and concentration bring success.
Abhay Singhvi is the Director of SS College of Engineering situated in Udaipur. He has done his schooling from St Paul’s School and his MBA from Maharashtra. Having to travel long distances to pursue his post-graduation and realizing the dearth of good colleges in Rajasthan, Abhay thought of bringing one to his own state. This was when he commenced his journey of establishing a college with the help of his friend who is one of the pioneers in education and Dr Kailash Sodani, ex-Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University who contributed to the project as an advisor and mentor.
The SS group started its journey with a Nursing College in 2006, followed by an Engineering College in 2008, a Polytechnic College in 2013 and an Ayurveda College in 2018. Abhay shares that he is also into the Real Estate business contributing to the Mukhya Mantri Jan Awas Yojana from 2019. Looking into the tourism sector and Udaipur being at the top in tourism and a wedding destination, Abhay is also planning to build a 4-star category resort.
With the aim of providing practical knowledge to students in the form of software, training and bringing in experts to the institute, SS College focuses on the overall development of students making them industry-ready, says Abhay. He further shares that the students of his college have been placed in top-notch industries in India like Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini with good packages.
Abhay shares that along with industrial visits, SS College also focuses on students’ extra-curricular activities like giving them an opportunity to speak on stage, food festivals and sports week which instil and encourage competitive mindset in them.
Talking about the pandemic, Abhay shares that his institute has tried its level best not to let students’ education get hampered. He shares that SS College was the first in Rajasthan to provide a real-classroom effect to the online students right from the college premises. He feels happy that now both online and offline classes are functional for students’ convenience. His college also distributed natural herbal drinks in villages through his Ayurvedic College to help the local people fight corona. SS College is also having the highest number of hostel rooms which in turn helped achieve social distancing in a big way, shares Abhay.
After getting back from work, Abhay’s priority is his family and enjoying with friends over the weekend which rejuvenates him and wishes to inculcate this habit in his students as well.
His success mantra is learning from one’s failures and he shares that he faced constant business failures early in his life but have worked upon them to progress in life.
