A former school teacher and now a social worker, Abha always knew that she had administrative skills in her. She brought new and innovative changes for her school kids and now is doing the same through her social work.

Abha Sethia is a former teacher of Maharana Mewar Public School and is currently engrossed in social service.

Abha is from Udaipur. She did her schooling from St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School. Abha has done M.Sc., M.A., and B.Ed.

Abha says that she appeared for the RPSC examination and also cleared it. However, she could not join it due to some family issues. After that, she joined Seva Mandir and worked as a development professional for five years. It was a job which required field work and also consumed much of her time. Hence, she left it and joined as a teacher at Maharana Mewar Public School, where her kids were also studying. Now, she dedicates her time to social service, yoga, and meditation.

Talking about her struggles, Abha says that teaching was never in her mind and hence initially when she joined the school, it was very difficult for her to coordinate with young students. However, she gained the acumen slowly and also became coordinator and in-charge of the pre-primary section. She also worked as an editor of the newsletter and the magazine published by her school.

Abha feels that experience is more important than education. It helps you in improving as a person and working in a professional way and brings contentment to your life.

Talking about her role models, Abha says that her parents are the ones for her. Her father always pushed her to work and go for higher studies. Her mother was also a working woman and inspired Abha to build a career for herself.

Abha opines that to become a teacher one needs dedication, discipline, and punctuality. One also has to be updated from time to time and not be stagnant.

Talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, Abha says she feels that it brought families and people close to each other. It also made people more digitally literate.
