Abdul Rashid is an Assistant Professor of Visual Art at the Government College of Kishangarh. He hails from Ajmer.
Abdul is doing a PhD and his topic is Art and Calligraphy through which he is trying to innovate in art. He has been active in this field for the last fifteen years.
Describing his childhood memories, Abdul says that he had been inclined towards art since childhood. He had been winning prizes in the arts since his younger classes. He says that in his childhood, on the occasion of Eid and Diwali, he used to prepare and exhibit his hand-made greetings, so that he could earn some money. In this way he always got encouragement from his art teacher and he went on to become an assistant professor in this field today.
Talking about his professional journey, Abdul says that earlier he was a third grade teacher but because there he was required to teach subjects other than arts, he prepared further and joined Navodaya Vidyalaya, Rajsamand, which became the turning point of his life. He made a painting of the Kumbhalgarh fort in the common hall there and also with the help of children he made another piece of art on the wall there which covers 60 feet from both the sides. Both his paintings were also included in the Indian Book of Records.
He was further selected as a school lecturer and got an opportunity to work in a school in a rural area of Tonk. There too, he created a National Integration Corner in the common hall and painted pictures of various heritage sites so that the students could see them everyday and connect with the history of their heritage.
On being asked about his mistakes, Abdul says that humans are the effigies of mistakes. He also made a mistake in his life that due to family circumstances he had left the field of art at the age of five. But he again joined this field with his hard work and has achieved this position today where he is very satisfied with his work.
When asked about his role models, Abdul says that he considers his mother as his role model. He says that it was his mother who got him admitted in college and helped him complete his education despite their financial condition not being good. He considers the second role model of his life to be his school teacher Devendra Kumar Kharol, who understood his talent in his childhood and advised him to take art as a subject in graduation, due to which he has reached where he is today. He further considers Dr. Rashid as his mentor for his PhD, who inspired him to innovate in his paintings and calligraphy by blending Vedic verses and Quranic verses for his PhD.
In his free time, he likes to listen to music and because of also being a good sportsman in college, he also likes to play cricket. Reading books also makes him relaxed.
Abdul’s life mantra is - there are some people who hide and there are some people who come out. So he always considers the motive of his life to be doing something concrete.
His success mantra is – Discipline and Time Management. He believes that the person whose boat of life has been steadied by Discipline will surely be successful.
Abdul advises the youth that in today's time social media is the biggest weapon, so use it to spread positivity. Set your goal and work hard to achieve it, and improve yours and the nation’s future.
