Aashita Relan, a New Delhi-based architect, illustrator, graphic designer, and painter, discovered her passion for art early in life. Despite her service-class background and introverted nature, she found solace in art and sought guidance and support from others. Relan's talent for Mandala art and her ability to create for hours without boredom make her an exceptional artist.

Aashita Relan is an architect, illustrator, graphic designer, and painter from New Delhi. She loves to hop into any creative field where she thinks she will grow as an artist. She is someone who can do Mandala art for countless hours and still not get bored with it.

Aashita discovered her passion for art when she was in first grade. She participated in a drawing competition and saw people making fire. She realized she already knew how to do it. Art came naturally to her. She came from a service-class background where art was not appreciated. She was always the odd one out in her family, and she faced gossip and criticism in her school. She was a very introverted person and lived in her own world. She needed someone who could guide her and support her.

Then, in her senior secondary, her parents wanted her to pursue biology as her subject. They thought she would make a great doctor because she was good at diagrams. She tried to cope but failed as she was always doodling instead of making notes in the classes. The creative beast inside her could not be tamed. Finally, she got a chance to study architecture and quit her medical studies. She finally found her tribe when she met people from the creative world of architecture. She started to apply all her knowledge of art to practice it. She is thankful to the people who helped her on her way.

For Aashita, everything around her is fascinating. She observes things and people very keenly. She draws what she sees. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, she tried to entertain her social media followers with her artistic ideas and paintings. She calls it COVID-positive art. She says she focused on topic-centric art that people can relate to. Her role models in life are her parents, who have always encouraged her to pursue her career. Seeing how self-made they are has always inspired Aashita. Also, people in the art community inspire her a lot, as they always support each other and appreciate their work.

During her childhood, Aashita participated in many extracurricular activities. Her parents always pushed her to learn new things. Her childhood friends now tell her how introverted she was during her childhood. She was also very interested in magazines and fashion, and she used to buy magazines with her pocket money. When social media came into the picture, she started combining her Indianized painting style with a touch of modernization to portray what was going on in the world through her paintings, and this was a turning point for her. Nandini Bhalla from Bazaar, a famous commercial magazine outlet, invited her to showcase her artwork in her magazine, which was a great honor for Aashita.

The greatest art influencers for Aashita who have always inspired her are Frida Kahlo, Pablo Piccasso, Michelangelo, and Raja Ravi Verma. The attention to detail in their artworks fascinates her. She feels she is doing some kind of imaginary collaboration with all of them. In the field of architecture, Zaha Hadid has been her biggest inspiration. As a woman, standing in the field of architecture is a big thing, and Aashita thinks she has done a great job holding up so well. She has given her a lot of hope.

Other than art, Aashita loves cooking and photography. She loves listening to podcasts. She is crazy about fashion and loves to dress up. She also keeps in touch with her friends, and during COVID lockdowns, it was her only escape from boredom. As an artist, it was very difficult for her to remain confined to one place. Apart from all this, she has a knack for knowledge, and she thinks one should always keep collecting as much knowledge as they can.

Aashita believes that, as a woman, it is very difficult to prove yourself in the corporate world. When she started doing a nine-to-five job, she worked hard and smart to prove her worth so that she could be irreplaceable. But soon she realized her artistic soul was dying and told her parents that this was not what she wanted to do in life. There was also a bad phase in her life when she broke her leg and started feeling dependent on others. But again, she always had a pencil and paper as her savior. She soon started to post her artwork on social media, which garnered her some popularity.

Aashita advises people to always keep learning and gaining knowledge because one can never learn everything in life. She emphasizes the importance of realizing your self-worth and having confidence in what you do. She urges everyone to keep exploring and never give up. She says there are going to be people who will try to pull you down, but if your inner self is strong, you will never fail.
