From passion to profession—every event tells a story of perseverance.
Aashish Lohar is an Event Planner based in Udaipur. He has been active in the event industry since 2009.
Aashish officially registered his company under the name The Black Horse Entertainments in 2012, which has since become a well-known name in the field of planning and managing Destination Weddings, Corporate Events, and various other events.
Headquartered in Udaipur, the company has expanded its presence with branches in Mumbai and Gujarat. Over the years, the team has executed events in every state of India, successfully managing over 550 weddings and 400+ corporate events. They have also diversified into the educational sector by organizing school and college tours under the same brand name.
Events Planner Aashish Lohar traces his inspiration behind joining this field to his childhood, when he was in the 7th grade. As his birthday approached, his father asked what gift he would like. Aashish requested a computer. He had visited Union Bank with his father, where he saw a computer for the first time and was fascinated. Curious, he asked his father what this device was, prompting his father to inquire with the bank staff. A bank executive told them that computers were the future, which sparked Aashish’s interest even more.
Determined to support his son’s curiosity, Aashish’s father searched for suitable computer classes. They came across the Sterlite Foundation, a Mumbai-based institution with over 350 branches in India. Unfortunately, the Foundation admitted only students who had completed their 12th grade. Aashish, being too young, didn’t qualify. Not one to give up easily, his father approached the same bank executive again, who advised him to write to the Foundation’s head office.
Aashish’s father wrote a letter and asked him to type it. They sent it to the Mumbai office of Sterlite Foundation. Twelve days later, they received a response from Arvind Tripathi, who invited them to the academy in Mumbai. The letter stated that Aashish should be allowed to learn whatever he wanted. This made Aashish the first student to be granted a free 3-month computer course at the Foundation.
In 2008, Aashish began learning computers and decided to focus on graphic designing. With a strong artistic influence from his father, art flowed in his veins. His creative pursuits earned him several accolades including:
In 2006, he joined Elixir Technologies, encouraged by his father, where he worked in Design for three years. However, he always dreamt of building something of his own.
The turning point came in 2009 when a grand event featuring the legendary singer Jagjit Singh was organized in Udaipur by Ocean Event Management Pvt. Ltd., owned by Late Lalit Kumar Jha and Late Sandeep Sharma. Aashish contributed to the graphic designing for this event and, as a gesture of thanks, received a free pass.
Attending the event was life-changing. He realized the thrill and fulfillment that came from being on the ground, managing, interacting, and executing. Shortly after, he reached out to Sandeep Sharma for an opportunity. Sharma agreed on the condition that Aashish would handle all designing tasks initially. Aashish thus began his journey in the event industry in February 2009, continuing design work for another year before committing full-time.
Sadly, both his mentors, Lalit Kumar Jha and Sandeep Sharma, passed away in a tragic accident in 2013. Their mentorship, however, left an enduring impact on Aashish.
Born and raised in Udaipur, Aashish Lohar completed his schooling at Gyan Mandir Senior Secondary School and pursued a Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) from MLSU. He later added management-related certifications to strengthen his foothold in the events domain.
Events Specialist Aashish Lohar believes in finding inspiration within. According to him, "If I cannot inspire myself, no one else can. Not even God or a book. You cannot walk unless you first decide to rise." He believes that every person—good or bad—can teach you something. A child or an elder can impart life-changing lessons. He even draws inspiration from mythological characters like Ravana, admiring his immense knowledge, while respecting Lord Shri Ram for his virtues.
One of his favorite personal quotes is:
“Everything is possible for me, if I can, if I do.”
He strongly believes in living in the present, as the future is yet unseen.
For Event Planner Aashish, every successfully executed event and every satisfied client, counts as an achievement. Over the years, he has earned appreciation for his calm demeanor, great execution skills, and professional attitude.
Notable events handled by Aashish include:
Aashish Lohar expresses deep gratitude towards his wife, crediting her unwavering support for where he stands today.
The Black Horse Entertainments (TBH Events) Founder Aashish offers practical advice for the youth stepping into the Event Management field:
He believes that the best event planners are our parents. Fathers plan logistics and smooth operations, while mothers take care of guest management and rituals. Learning from them is the first step into this field.
He urges the youth to not blindly chase government jobs. Instead, he encourages them to turn passion into a profession, emphasizing that not everyone needs to become a doctor, engineer, or IAS officer. We must identify our unique skills and follow them wholeheartedly.
Apart from being an event organizer, Aashish Lohar is an active member of the Rotary Club of Udaipur Udai for the past 3–4 years. He regularly participates in social initiatives and events through the club.
He recalls facing several challenges, including a phase in November 2023, when he contemplated leaving the industry. It was during that time he met Tej Prakash Shukla, whose encouragement and guidance helped him rediscover his purpose. Today, he credits Shukla for supporting him in difficult times.
Currently, Lohar is working towards expanding The Black Horse Entertainments (TBHEvents) into the international wedding segment, aiming to take his brand global.
