Aarti Shah, works at Seva Mandir, an NGO in Udaipur, as the Head of Resource Mobilization. Seva Mandir is known for its integrated community development initiatives, focusing on capacity building, livelihood enhancement, and strengthening community institutions.

A Computer Engineering graduate from Modi Engineering College in Laxmangarh, Rajasthan, Aarti embarked on her professional journey in a Telecom company in Jaipur post-graduation. Relocating to Mumbai for career growth, she eventually returned to Udaipur after marriage in 2013. Faced with limited opportunities for computer engineers in Udaipur, she transitioned to Seva Mandir, where her initial unfamiliarity with the NGO landscape posed challenges. Undeterred, her resilient attitude and eagerness to learn propelled her forward. Today, eight years later, Aarti has traversed a remarkable path of growth and achievement.

Not having a specific role model, Arti draws inspiration from the dedicated, determined, and hardworking individuals she encounters in life.

In her view, the skills needed to work in an NGO are empathy, and an essential connection with the community to comprehend their challenges and contribute to effective solutions.

She believes education marks the beginning of your career journey, whereas accumulated experiences shape one's trajectory.

Reflecting on her childhood, Aarti fondly recalls pooling the two rupees allocated for bus fare with her brother to indulge in small treats.

If given the chance to revisit the past in a time machine, she would have explored more in the NGO sector as it is very satisfying. She thinks there has been a lot of intellectual growth in her, working in this field.

During her leisure moments, Aarti indulges in Netflix bingeing. She credits her time at Seva Mandir for the development of leadership qualities, underscoring the transformative impact of her role.

Addressing the challenges posed by the Covid era, Aarti believes it has unveiled the simplicity of contentment with basic necessities and strengthened family bonds.
