A committed faculty of communication, Aarti, is working in the fields of teaching and research along with pursuing her passion for storytelling.

Aarti Punjabi teaches communications as a visiting professor at two prestigious business schools in Mumbai, NMIMS and SP Jain Institute of Management. She was also associated with Mumbai University. She began teaching in 2008. Furthermore, she is currently working on a project that is being led by MNIT and IIM Ahmedabad in addition to teaching. Aarti holds a Ph.D. in management as well as an MBA and an M. Phil.

Aarti recalls her childhood and tells us that she was born and educated in Lucknow. Despite her father's tragic demise while she was a teenager, she considers herself fortunate to have had a pleasant childhood. Her mother faced every problem in life with determination and made certain that her children were self-sufficient even before they married.

Aarti describes her struggle by saying that before her marriage, she worked as a kindergarten teacher in Lucknow. After getting married, she relocated to Mumbai, where she spent the majority of her time raising her children and holding small Chikankari clothing exhibitions. However, she was aware that she was going in the wrong direction, so she chose to pursue her passion of teaching and obtained a PhD and a masters in management. The same university hired her as a faculty member once she completed her education. She says that at first, because she had previously only worked with teenage kids, it was challenging to manage older students. But in the end, this challenge allowed her to grow into a more accountable and responsible person.

When asked about her mistakes, Aarti admits that once in her early career days she had misspelled the word "opportunity" on her application for an English teacher position that she had most wished for. Despite the fact that she was a self-assured and experienced person, this small mistake stopped her from landing the job of her dreams and showed her the importance of revising things.

Aarti looks up to her mother, who has had a substantial impact on her, as an inspiration. She describes her mother as the type of person who, despite adversity, always embraced tiny pleasures in life. Professionally, Aarti idolizes one of her professors, Dr. Yasmin, for her dedication and generosity.

In her spare time, Aarti enjoys listening to classical music and singing along. She also enjoys socializing with her friends, spending time on social media, and reading books. She hosts a podcast where she reads stories that she has written herself.

When asked what qualities a teacher should have, Aarti responds by saying that a teacher should be a good person and a mentor to kids. One needs to be knowledgeable, receptive to feedback from others, particularly students, and a lifelong learner to be a teacher.
