Aakriti Mannat is a singer and has been in the profession for seven years.
Recalling her childhood, Aakriti says she had always been passionate about singing. She started performing when she was in fifth grade. However, her parents were against her singing career. She did her education at MCL Saraswati Bal Mandir, Delhi. She was the first to choose music as a subject in her school. Later, she did her BA in Music-honors from Miranda House College of Delhi University. She had to leave her house because her family refused to accept a female musician. She started performing on stage during her graduation, although she did not learn music formally. However, she learned from her experiences.
Talking about her achievements, Aakriti says she has done more than 1,000 shows till now. She also got the opportunity to perform with Anup Jalota, Shankar Sahney, Ashok Mastie, and Kaptan Laadi. She has also released her original songs.
When asked about her role models, Aakriti says her father is her role model, as her father’s dream was to become a singer, but he couldn't make it. She also looks up to Sunidhi Chauhan and Kishore Kumar.
Sharing her mistakes, Aakriti says she did things by going against her family. She thinks she did not make such a mistake, which she regrets. She believes in herself and makes decisions that feel right to her.
To attain mental peace, Aakriti prefers to travel solo.
Advising young singers, Aakriti says music is a gift from God. People who want to make a career in music should first learn the instrument from institutes. Furthermore, she says if a person shows interest in music at an early age, parents should encourage them to learn more. It will help in getting a job easily. There is a lot of scope in the music industry, but one needs dedication to grab it.
