As a karate coach, Aakash introduces his students to the worlds of fitness, gymnastics, self-defence, karate, and yoga. He wishes to spread the message of living a healthy lifestyle and motivate the youth to win medals so the nation can feel proud.

Aakash Kumar is a Karate player and coach based in Patna, Bihar. He runs an institute in Ranchi under the name Aakash Institute of Martial Arts. Aakash currently has 120+ students enrolled at his institute.

Recalling his childhood, Aakash says that his interest in karate grew after watching action movies. However, he couldn’t garner much support from his family to pursue the sport. But later on, his elder brother and coach started supporting him financially, which helped Aakash play well and earn medals. Aakash lived a financially constrained childhood and looked for ways to earn money to pursue his interest in karate.

Describing his struggles, Aakash shares that when he initially stepped onto the field for his first tournament, he lost the match. Bogged down emotionally, he reached out to his coach, who motivated him to continue working hard. Listening to his advice, Aakash worked harder and won two gold medals at the district level and one at the state level. His journey continued with a combination of successes and failures, while he adhered to his life mantra of focus with practice.

Speaking of his achievements, Aakash says that he went on to earn a bronze medal at the national level and also participated in the Under-19 competition held in Indore, where he cleared three rounds and won the first bronze medal for his state. Aakash also won a silver medal at the nationals and got selected to represent India at the Asian Karate Championship, where he got the fifth position. He also won the first gold medal for Bihar and was also selected for the Commonwealth Games, an achievement he is proud of.

Continuing the list of his accomplishments, Aakash shares that he won a bronze medal in the Turkish Open Tournament and a gold medal in the Sri Lanka South Asian Karate Championship. He also won a gold medal at the all-India level and in the East India Karate Championship. Aakash has recently been selected to play at the Asian Games, for which he will be undergoing training in Iran. He wishes to make his nation proud.

When asked about his role models, Aakash says he comes from a family where his great-grandfather was a wrestler and his father also played karate. He is grateful to his coach, Pankaj Pandey, who supported him throughout his journey. However, Aakash considers himself his role model and strives to rectify his mistakes to achieve greater success in life.

Aakash advises the youth to obey their parents, as they are our well-wishers. He urges them to focus on their fitness, diet, and sleep. Aakash adds that discipline and practice are two key qualities for achieving success. He suggests people get up before sunrise and witness nature, energy, and positivity.
